Third Eight   BSM - SCO

This was the first season for a while that a THIRD EIGHT had outlasted the Spring. After an Easter Term during whch the Senior Squad left-overs battled on gamely, they stuck together with determination and responsive endeavour: an example not only for other 'B' and 'C' crews in the club but indeed for 'A' crews as well of what eight comparatively inexpert individuals led by a competent cox can do once they make up their minds to become a crew. There was hardly a single 'bad' outing all season; no crew deserved more to win, nor was there one which we wished more to win.

There were good rows at Reading and Richmond, and the diappointments of losing finales at Avon, Worcester and Bedford were great indeed: but the joys and trials of two splendid terms of boating must survive the shcrt-lived moments of regret. Seldom has a crew so consistently encouraged itself and its coaches - may all our future 'also rows take heart.
