Girls' Rowing   WOH

This season saw one girls' IV on the water. They laboured under great difficulties. One of their number was seriously injured on the assault course and had it not been for Jemima Sewill's game substitution the crew would have been off the water for half a term. They suffered, too, from the fact that they received only irregular coaching, and IS and WOH were well aware that a crew who were as keen and determined as any of the boys lost out as a result of their coaches' other commitments. As a result, serious technical weaknesses remained throughout the season, and they were not as fast as they could have been. They did, though, earn the respect of the male users of the river, by sheer doggedness and hard work. Under the circumstances, their win at Shearwater and their creditable performance at Reading Town wane all the more impressive. WOH
