Novices   OEL

It w s clear from the start that this group of novices had some potential Early in the head race season a rovisional A crew put in some encouraging performances and we eagerly waited to see how they would cope withithe regattas.

At the start of the summer term there was some re-arrangement of the crew which settled down to look quite business-like, though they were reluctant at times to give all their effort in training. Their first regattas brought a run of usual novice disasters though they proved to be quite quick and gained vital experience. Nottingham was no exception to the run of disasters when they completed most of their in just fast enough to gain their place in the final. This was a much more determined race and they lead from the start going a length up and staying there. They showed the was a chance for the other two novice crews to meet opposition of a similar standard. Under guidance variously of Dr. Robinson, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Polge and Philip Blatchford these two crews have shown some promise for future years. The 'B' crew were only beaten by one novice eight other than their own A crew.

Llandaff where a scratch School House four managed to win easily on both days.
