For the first time for some weeks, the crew was complete, and on the way back to fitness. We managed to fit in outings on the Thursday and Friday before the race. On the Friday, we rowed down from Emanuel to Putney in fine weather (though the water was difficult enough to cause some crews to sink during training). Picnic lunch was taken on the hard at Putney before we returned to Emanuel. On the Saturday, there was a good turn-out of supporters for the race, which took place in chilly but fine conditions. We came in 153rd, beating the 2nd and Colts VIIIs by about 35 seconds.
