A Girl's view

A member of the Girls' IV writes:
Over the past year the girls' crews have been treated very well by the male members of the club, even if at times our numbers have been fairly overwhelming, with three crews on the river at one stage. The boys are always willing to help us by giving advice and encouragement and, more usefully, giving us a hand with loading and unloading of boats at races, though this is more likely to come from the novice crews. There is friendly rivalry between the girls and the younger boys, as well as amongst the girls. This term we have seen much new enthusiasm, with over twenty girls joining the Boat Club, who all seem to enjoy the challenge of a new sport, especially one so demanding as rowing, thus disproving the common thought that girls have no strength and stamina. I hope this enthusiasm for girls' rowing will continue for years to come.
