The Bluefriars Dinner Crews from 1948-1950 were invited to make a special effort to attend the dinner, and they turned out in force, to make it a very happy occasion, at which Steve Williams, a recent MCSBC captain, and recent Henley medal winner was the Guest of Honour; he spoke informally about his days at Monkton, and at Oxford Brookes. Paul Mellows, representing the older generation, also spoke, and shared memories of the 1948 Olympics. We were delighted that Paul was joined by Michael Lapage, and Ian Lang who were also in the GB team. We were delighted to receive good wishes from Dr W.G.R.M Laurie. The fifth Monktonian in the team was Peter Kirkpatrick. The 1997 dinner will be held at Leander Club on Friday 25th April. We are inviting crews from 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1991 to make a secial effort to attend. Parents and other friends of Bluefriars are very welcome at this dinner. Numbers are limited to 80, so you are advised to book early.
