The Bluefriars Trust was set up to help young people at Monkton and elsewhere to benefit from the part that rowing can contribute to their education.
The Trust can make use of tax benefits, so that supporters who donate under the new Gift Aid Scheme either regularly or with one-off payments can give extra help in a straightforward way. You are encouraged to give donations by monthly, quarterly or annual standing order - whichever suits you best. There is no lower limit (or upper limit!) for gifts under the new Gift Aid Scheme, which has taken over from the old Deed of Covenant procedure. By receiving regular rather than sporadic gifts, the Trust can plan well in advance how the money in the fund is to be used. If you set up a new standing order, and have not yet registered with Bluefriars as a Gift Aid Donor, you will be sent the appropriate simple form to complete.
Both the Trust and your Estate can gain from tax advantages if you bequeath to a charity in your Will. Next time you update your Will, do think of Bluefriars.
The Trust is aiming to play a more active role, but can only do so if funds are available. Bluefriars has in the past been grateful for donations from parents of current and past Monktonians and friends of the club, as well as from OMs.
In past years the Newsletter has included forms suitable for setting up regular donations to Monkton Bluefriars. A form has been printed again this year. and is enclosed as a separate sheet; we also plan to continue writing personally to people who may be willing and able to help us, asking for their support.
Do get in touch if you would like to help us now in this important work.

Monkton Bluefriars Boat Club funds
The old Bluefriars Boat Club fund is still active. Its income was about £2200 in 1999/2000 (down since last year, because donations are being switched to the charity fund.) This was used as follows:
