All Bluefriars funds are given by kind supporters, and we are grateful to everyone for their genrosity. Here are some of the ways in which people have supported us in the past year :
- Word is spreading about Amazon. You can go to amazon.co.uk via the link at www.bluefriars.org.uk so Bluefriars can benefit. It doesn't make Amazon any more expensive to you. You can buy all sorts of things - not only books, but a whole variety of other things including DVD's, etc. I had supper recently with an OM who had just bought £50 worth of books from Amazon. He happily changed his favourites list to include www.bluefriars.org.uk to ensure he helps us in future!
- Someone with online banking set up regular payments to Bluefriars, avoiding most of the paperwork. I sent him the Bluefriars bank details via email, and he downloaded a Gift Aid form from the website.
- Someone gave from his charity CAF account by visiting AllaboutGiving.org.uk It's easy to register.
- Someone gave us shares, a tax efficient way of giving, avoiding CGT.
- The 1st VIII gave over £2,000 towards the cost of the new boat - some of their earnings in the summer holidays. OM sponsors matched the crew's efforts four-fold.
- Several people gave us substantial one-off gifts towards the new boat - some from CAF accounts, and others where we have been able to reclaim tax under the Gift Aid scheme.
- It is possible to give to Bluefriars via your self-assessment tax return. As far as I know, no-one has done this yet. You need to quote the Inland Revenue Reference Number QAC37JG .
- More supporters have joined the those who give regularly by Standing Order each month, quarter or year.
- One person has set up regular giving via the Give as You Earn scheme. (Set up via employers.)
It was of course the supporters of Bluefriars who funded this marvellous contribution towards young peoples rowing. Here are some of the ways in which the Trustees have spent money provided by the friends of Bluefriars :
- £ 3,600 Bluefriars Bursaries
- £ 600 Supporting J15 training Camp at Wallingford
- £ 1,450 Supporting Training Camp in France
- £ 1,300 Regatta Costs - Boston Marathon, Head of the River, National Championships
- £ 2,600 New Oars for 1st VIII
- £ 4,000 New Boat for Bradford on Avon Rowing Club. (We support youth rowing in clubs in the local community, and are delighted that their members give generously towards our work.)
- £15,000 A new boat for the 1st VIII
