The most memorable part of training for the senior girls this year was the Nantes Training camp in France, mainly because it helped us all to bond as a crew and definitely taught us what we need to do to improve in the future. We realised there the importance of fitness, and although our enthusiasm for rowing also grew, we know that there are other aspects of rowing that we need to concentrate on. We are looking forward to next year's camp which will include some girls from the year below, as we believe them to have huge potential. We hope that the younger girls in the Boat Club will experience the feeling of success and satisfaction that they deserve.
When we competed in a pair in an inter-regional race in April of this year, the one lesson we could draw from our experience was that our fitness needs to develop. We have decided that in the next season, our primary aim will be to improve this weak aspect of our rowing.
This year has been by far the most successful for the girls since we have rowed at Monkton in terms of the number of girls rowing, but also medals - in the whole year we achieved two wins, four second places and three third places. We are proud, as our squad is small, and our crew is selected from few people; but we also recognise that we need to train harder in the terms ahead of us.
