Another great cohort of fresh faced enthusiastic kids joined the Boat Club this year and for the first time in many years we were able to boat 3 octuple sculls at once. Thanks to the great efforts of Mike and Carl we now have three octs which can cope with the ever growing popularity of this sport in the school.
The kids enjoyed themselves hugely and started the year very positive, although they did not actually take to the river until February because of floods. However, they did learn to row on the flooded field which was a great novelty for everyone.
The highlight of the year was the Wessex regatta held at Bryanston. Three quads were sent and all performed excellently. One of the boys quads raced in the final and only for a small crab at the start would have come home with the gold.
Hopefully the next generation of Rowley Douglas', Steve Williams' and Alex Partridges' will come from this group. Watch this space.
