The dinner will give us an opportunity to congratulate OM oarsman who took part in the Beijing Olympics. Bookings may be made on the Bluefriars website www.bluefriars.org.uk
The guest of honour will be Mrs Di Ellis CBE, Chairman of the Amateur Rowing Association.
The dining room at Leander has room for just over a hundred people. We expect the dinner to be oversubscribed so early booking is recommended. (In July, the dinner was brought to the attention of Bluefriars whose e-mail addresses are known, and 30 places were immediately taken up. At the time of going to print, half the seats have been taken.) The charge for the dinner will be £50.
It is hoped that we can offer a reduced charge of £40 for students. Even at this reduced charge, young people will find the cost too great, so sponsorship would be much appreciated. Please get in touch if you would like to help in this way.
The club has 11 twin bedrooms. Booking will be on a first-come first-served basis. The cost is £115 for a twin room. We do not yet know how many crews will be allowed to row in the afternoon. If you are interested, please fill in the appropriate form on the Bluefriars website. It is likely that 2 VIIIs will go afloat, one with Steve Williams on board and the other with Alex Partridge. Priority for places in these boats will be given to former MCSBC crewmates of Steve and Alex.
Once you have sent your booking form(s) (one for the dinner, and a separate one for rowing), you should receive an e-mail confirmation of receipt, and a password which will enable you to look at the most up-to-date web-page which will list people who have made bookings.
If the dinner is oversubscribed, a light lunch may be arranged before the afternoon rowing outings.
