The Bluefriars Trust

The generosity of donors has enabled the trust to continue supporting rowing at Monkton. As well as subsidising the training camp in France, sculling blades have been purchased and help given towards physiotherapy for the senior squad. Earlier this autumn, three second-hand pairs were bought for MCSBC.

The Trustees hope that in future, as more funds become available, they will do more towards fulfilling the second objective of the trust, which is to encourage rowing amongst other students as well as those who are at Monkton. We are glad to be part of an initiative which is taking rowing into a local YOI (Young Offenders' Institution). To start them going, we have provided two rowing machines and some help with coaching, and the plan is to have one or more competitions with members of MCSBC set up.

We have also set up a connection with Great Marlow School, where Fergus Murison (OM), is getting a boat club up and running. So far, MCSBC has given two fours, and we expect more help to be given later.

Do get in touch if you would like to support the work of the trust in any way.
